A Call to Compassion
Diaper need is an invisible part of poverty in the U.S. Did you know?
- 1 in 3 families struggle to afford diapers.
- WIC and SNAP do not allow the purchase of diapers
- Cloth diapers require access to laundry that poverty does not afford
The Impact of Diaper Insecurity
Families experiencing diaper insecurity face significant challenges, including:
- Not Covered by Government Assistance Programs – SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) and WIC (Women, Infants, and Children) do not cover diapers.
- Health Risks – Prolonged exposure to wet or soiled diapers can lead to serious health issues, such as diaper rash, urinary tract infections, and skin infections.
- Missed Opportunities – A lack of diapers can prevent children from attending childcare, affecting their early education and development. Parents may miss work due to the inability to secure childcare, impacting their income and overall family stability.
- Emotional Toll – Diaper insecurity can contribute to stress and anxiety for parents, leading to feelings of inadequacy and guilt.
We collect diaper donations every first Sunday of the month. Your financial donation also provides for the purchase of diapers. Thank you!
The Diaper Ministry at St. Paul’s began in 2021 and we continue to explore its potential.
